Montell Admitted to KSB Hospital on 10/15/07
10/16/07 – At 4:30 p.m. Assistant Warden Trancoso called me and told me that Montell had been admitted to KSB Hospital in Dixon on 10/15. I told him that I would like to visit Montell he stated that I could come out that evening or in the morning. I called Dametra on her job and we decided to go that night. I was afraid to drive because I had been to the doctor that morning and didn’t know how the medicine would react in my body. We drove out to KSB and when we got there we were denied visiting privileges. Officer J. Shank in Montell’s room told me we had to go to the prison and sign in and then come back. This was impossible because the prison was closed it was after 9 p.m. I insisted on seeing Montell and Officer J. Shank had the hospital to call the police on us because it was after visiting hours. We left peacefully.
Denied Visit for the Sixth Consecutive Time
10/12/07 – Dametra and I went to visit Montell today.and our visit was denied by Assistant Warden Trancoso what had written a letter to Andy Lambertson, AAG dated 10/10/07stating that we would be permitted to visit Montell because he wanted to see us. However, when I told him about the letter that had been faxed to my Attorney he acted as if he knew nothing about it when in fact he was the person who wrote and signed the letter.

Denied Visits Five Consecutive Times
Yesterday (10/5) I tried to visit Montell. I arrived at Dixon’s main gate at 1:30 p.m. Officer Lawry escorted me to the infirmary however, when we got to the second floor of the infirmary I wasn’t allowed in. The guard stated that I had to wait for the Warden to come over. We waited approximately 35 minutes. I saw her walk past me through the window to the door (West Wing) which was locked where Montell is housed. He’s in cell 23. Five minutes later the Warden Chandler came out and said Montell didn’t want to see me but he would see his sister. However, the Warden had been made aware of the fact that she hadn’t accompanied me on this visit.
Montell couldn’t have told her he would see his sister instead of me because he wasn’t aware that she was coming. I feel that once the Warden knew my daughter wasn’t there because I had called them Thursday, October 4th and told them she would be coming she decided not to let me see Montell for the 5th consecutive time. I will continue to go out there every Friday. I will not stop trying to see my son.
Montell couldn’t have told her he would see his sister instead of me because he wasn’t aware that she was coming. Denied Visit For The 4th Consecutive Time
On 9/27 I called Dixon at 8:32 a.m. and asked for Warden Nedra Chandler to let her know that I was coming out there on 9/28. I spoke to Diane who took my name and number and said that the Warden would be getting back to me. She never did.
On Friday, 9/28 I called Dixon and asked to speak to the Warden again at 8:30 a.m. This time Diane transferred me directly to the scheduling department and I spoke with Lynne. I told her that I was on my way out there. I arrived at Dixon at 12:55 p.m. When I arrived at the front desk the officer told me not to sign in, I did any way. She stated that she had to make a call and see whether Montell was accepting visits that day. However, while sitting in the waiting room I observed that she didn't call any other inmate to ask whether they were receiving visits that day. She would called the visitor's number and let them sign in and then took the women into the room where they search you and they were allowed to go directly into the visiting room. She then call and told them which inmate to bring down so they could meet with their visitor(s). It seems mighty strange to me that I am the only one that this calling procedure is done on.
At 1:50 p.m. Warden Chandler came into the waiting room and sat down by me. She stated that she had talked with Montell and he was having spasms in his legs and didn't feel up to having a visit today. I then asked her why I couldn't go directly into his room and she stated that she had no problem with that. I've actually been banned from his room since September 2006 when I rolled him over and found bedsores. From that time on I've had to visit him in what I would call a "laundry room" and they call it a visiting room. At that time I was told that I should have never been allowed in his room. I had been visiting him in his room from April 2006 to September 2006. When I left the facilities I made sure that I signed above my name that the visit was denied.

Denied 3 consecutive visits - 230 miles roundtrip each visit
9/13/07 -- Yesterday (9/12) I tried to visit Money (Montell's nickname) and was denied again. When I got to the infirmary a porter told us that Montell wasn't ready. We waited approximately 20-25 minutes and the warden came out. She claimed I hadn't called in and there was no paperwork. I told her I had called ln between 8:00 and 8:05 a.m. on Monday and talked with Lynne. She stated that she wasn't in today and she couldn't verify what I said. I then told her that she was awae of the fact that I come in every Wednesday, of course she denied that she knew that. I then asked her what was wrong with Lynne's fingers that the paperwork wasn't typed she then stated that I didn't have to say that. She then went back where Money was or so she said and came out 15 minutes later and told me he didn't feel well and wanted me to come back on Friday and asked the officer to escort me off the premises.
When I got to my car I called Roger Walker, Director of IDOC and of course he wouldn't talk with me so I told his secretary Bridgett what had transpired and asked her to put me in touch with Mr. Guy Pierce the warden's supervisor and she did. After talking with him he told me that he would straighten this matter out and assured me that I wouldn't have to go through this again (the third time),. He will put on the computer that my visits are every Wednesday from l to 3 p.m. and I will be able to visit Money without having to call in every Monday morning. Our meeting accommodations according to him will also be changed.

When went into the visiting room in a private close off area and she stated that in the near future they would be inserting a "G-tube" in Montell for feeding purposes. Visiting Montel: Aug 29 and Sept 5, 2007
8/29/07 – Today I visited Montell. When I arrived at the infirmary Montell was in the gerry chair and he looked very uncomfortable. He tried to change his position from left to right. He was non-verbal and tears were streaming down his face. The washing machine and dyer was running and quite noisy and this seemed to be irritating him. II asked him if anybody had done anything to him and he shook his head as to be saying "No". I asked him if he had received all his meals, he shook his head from side to side.
I noticed that he had his watch on today and it had a battery in it. He still has his radio. He couldn’t remember if he had saw Dr. Ngu or the Warden Chandler this week. He gets a chance to sit in gerry chair everyday. Montell seemed to be really hurting on his right side and I asked the officer to get the nurse to come in and reposition him.. He did, however, when she came out she stated that he had to remove me from the areas because she didn’t want to interact with me in anyway. The officer directed me down the hall but we didn’t go out the door. I heard Montell make a strange sound while she was repositioning him. When I came back into the room where Montell was, he was trying to scratch his head. He had on his thermal undershirt, however, it looked like they were trying to drown him in body powder. Today Montell had eight spasms/seizures.
9/5/07 – Today I visited Montell. He was in the "laundry room" again and smelled like mildew. Montell told me that they had sprayed the room and that some of the spray got on his head. Montell was lying in the gerry chair and had three spasms/seizures with my first ten minutes of the visit. I noticed that he could move his fingers on his left hand a little bit but the arm never moved. He told me that he saw a therapist and that he moved his arms and legs one time this week. His hair was cut and he had been shaved. He started blinking his eye, he thinks he has an eye lash in it, I tried to blow it out. I noticed he didn’t have his watch on today. He was lying on a pillow today, because his right buttock hurts he stated that he didn’t feel well and wanted to go back to his room. I asked the officer to escort me back to the main gate because I didn’t want him to suffer any longer. Our visit was for 40 minutes and this time he had a total of eight spasms/seizures within that timeframe.

8/01/07 – Today I went to visit Montell. When I got there I noticed that he needed to be shave and have his haircut. His tee shirt was clean and they had put two chairs out and had a pen and pad in one of the chair. Montell still isn’t getting his meals and the call button hasn’t be fix where it goes into the nurses’ station rather than the cell next door.
While I was there Montell had ten spasms/seizures within less then two hours. He basically just laid there and let me talk to him about this childhood.
8/02/07 – Dr. Skias called me today. I asked him if he would like to meet with me, Dr. Orris, Ted Pearson and Attorney Hirshman regarding Montell’s health problem. He agreed to call Dr. Orris in two or three days and set up a meeting however, it would have to be later this month because he is going out of town. He told me that Montell was in the secondary stages of chronic progressive MS and there wasn’t any treatment for this stage. He stted that Montell needs further treatment. I told him that Montell had told me that they weren’t giving him "copaxone" anymore. Dr. Skias told me that he would never have discontinued giving him copaxone. However, during my visit yesterday I noticed that Montell had ten seizures or spasms in less than two hours. Montell told me that they were giving him ‘spasm’ medicine. And that there is medicine for the seizures/spasms that he should be given. At present Montell is given Baclofen.
8/8/07 – Went to see Montell today. I visited him in another area. This room had tables and chairs, television and a bookshelf with books on it. However, when I went to turn the television on, I was told that Montell couldn’t watch it because he was in segregation. Montell repeatly asked the officer if he could watch the TV. Even though he spoke with a slurred tone you could understand some of the times he was saying. He’s still not getting all of his meals and I understand that his call button goes to another cell and not to the nurses’ station. Therefore when he rings for help he gets none. They had his head laid back in the gerry chair again with his feet up. This position causes him to get strangled and they know it. Montell had eight spasms/seizures within a two hour tiframe.

I told her that I didn’t believe this and she stated she had told him that I had driven a long distance and that he got irrated and said the didn’t want any visits today. This seems strange to me since I had told Lynne to explain to Montell that I wasn’t able to visit the previous day because they were bringing him to UIC Hospital.
8/20/07 – I called Dixon and talked with Lynne I told her that I would be in on Wednesday, August 22nd to see Montell at l:00 p.m.
